Travelling Outside the USA After Summer Camp

If you want to travel to Canada or Mexico like I did after summer camp there are a few things to bear in mind…

Travel after summer camp

You should contact the respective consulate to find out whether you need a tourist visa or card to visit. I didn’t have one, but never asked either, when I went to Mexico but regulations are always changing and so you should always contact them to avoid any problems.

If you do choose to leave the USA during the three months you have to travel after camp you need to give back the white I-94 card you were given on entry. If you don’t it means your departure from the US hasn’t been recorded, which can cause you lots of problems if you want to come back to the US any time in the future.

The insurance included in the fees you paid to your camp agency doesn’t cover travel outside the USA and Canada. If you do decide to go to Mexico you’re covered for just 48 hours. You should never travel without being properly insured so make sure you get it sorted before you leave the USA.
