Keeping up with the fashions with top blogger Heshaam Hague!
Convenience and practically often lead camp counselors to pack the usual assortment of plain and often unflattering combinations of shorts, t-shirts, combat trousers and fleeces. But just because your summer camp ensembles need to be comfortable that doesn’t mean you need to sacrifice your sense of style.
Spring/summer 2013 trends
Some of the spring/summer fashion trends of 2013 are undoubtedly not suitable for summer camp. For example the metal look which calls for sequins and studs as part of your daytime wear would clearly not be practical for summer camp activities. However, many of the other fashion trends of the season can be incorporated into your summer camp wardrobe quite easily – you just need to keep an open mind and really think about which items of your wardrobe can be styled up.
Yep bomber jackets are back! Major designers including Stella McCartney and Christopher Kane have included the comfortable, versatile yet stylish jackets within their spring/summer 2013 collection as part of the luxe sport trend. These jackets will be ideal for activities which require you to cover up or for the colder evenings which may await you.
Flora and fauna
Everyone knows you can’t go wrong with florals in spring and summer. However, this year it’s all very much about bold, bright, vibrant floral prints. Anything which can be found in an exotic garden is also firmly on trend from bird motifs, snakeskin and butterflies. Try incorporating this trend into your wardrobe through a simple t-shirt, vest-top or pair of shorts.
Pumping the monochrome trend into your summer camp holiday should be incredibly easy. You could simply opt for a white top and black shorts or chose monochrome patterned items such as tops, shorts and cardigans. Striped monochrome skinny trousers are also on trend which you could opt for on colder days and nights. This is a simple trend not to be missed and if you’re lucky enough to get a tan, the white aspect to this look will definitely show it off!
If you’re looking for a dress for an evening occasion whilst on camp this dress from New Look’s Te Amo collection is just the ticket:
This is an absolutely ideal trend for summer camp. The casual summer look allows for the use of dungarees, baggy jeans, oversized cloth jumpers, high waisted trousers, grunge style and a lot of denim! So get nostalgic and dig out those Rebok classics immediately! A hair scrunchie might be taking things a bit far though.
Oversized white shirts
Ok so this might not be a great solution for day time activities. However, opting for this look in the evenings will keep you cool as well as stylish. Wear over some leggings or denim trousers for a simple yet on trend look.
Again this might not be practical for the more physically demanding of activities however a loose fitting Kimono could keep you cool and stylish. Simply wear over some jeans for a burst of oriental style.
Psychedelic prints were all over the 2013 spring/summer runway. Again this is an easy trend to incorporate into your wardrobe and pull off on a casual day to day basis as well as during the evening.
Go for loud, bold, trippy patterns that will give you the wow factor. Simply add the print to your outfit with a printed t-shirt, pair of shorts or even leggings.
