Monday 18th July
12.15pm Ahhhhh! David Corraddi’s* [super famous actor I can’t reveal] kids are in the bunk just opposite mine. The head counselor has already said we’re not allowed to ask them about him though. Cannot wait for parents’ day.
Changeover day today – got $260 in tips, not bad! Should get me an iPod from the dodgy janitor anyway. All the kids have got them and they look amazing, you can store so much music and they’re much smaller than my discman.
Half the Mean Girls have gone and half are staying, I hope they’ll be a bit easier to talk to and cope with now there aren’t so many of them. The parents of the ones who are staying for six weeks came to see how they were getting on and it was surprisingly cute to see them together. You wouldn’t suspect all the grief they’ve caused me these past few weeks. I wish my parents could come and visit for the weekend, I miss them.
The new girls seem lovely. One of the new campers’ parents obviously didn’t want to leave her with us heathens; they were so hesitant to go. We must look like crazed wild animals with cabin fever by now. My hair is thick and bushy and my roots are a disgrace, my clothes are filthy and I’ve never seen the circles under my eyes so dark.
Rebecca, Zoe and me got the new girls settled in and tried to assimilate them into the bunk with little bitch Britney and co who have stayed behind. I hope they’re going to all get on this session – it could go either way. We’ve got two emo kids who came together, two from Miami, one blonde speccy kid, a posh one – she’s the one whose parents didn’t want to leave her – and a super nerd. Along with Britney and her entourage, this could be a recipe for disaster, or maybe opposites will attract, we’ll see.
9:16pm For the sake of the children I thought I better sort the barnet out – I was scaring myself to look in the mirror. I’m sure the new kids think I’m a bit weird walking around with dye on my hair though – I bet their mummies don’t use DIY boxes. There is a camp hairdresser who comes at the end of each session, but money’s a bit tight what with spending it all up at the GC and in Walmart. I’ll sort the roots, but the bushy, wild effect will have to wait until home.
I watched the staff football game in rest hour with Emily. We just chatted about boys – much more fun than actually playing them. Apparently last night two people were caught shagging in the pit where they tie-dye all the clothes up at visual arts. Rumour’s going around that it was me and Ben – need to put a stop to that one! Haha, pretty funny though, everyone here is pure filth.
Just getting ready for my night and day off…
