How you get paid depends on the camp you’re working at. In my first year of camp I got 25% after 9 weeks and the rest just before I left in cash. I know some friends got subbed early though if you really need it. In the second year we all got given cheques which the camp director then cashed for us – not really sure why he did it that way?
Anyway, there are basically four ways to get paid from camp that I’ve heard of:
- A lump sum in cash at the end.
- Paid weekly thoughout the camp counselor contract.
- Given on a prepaid card at the end.
- As a cheque, which can easily be cashed in the US. Your camp will probably take you to a place to get it done. You’ll need two forms of ID, like a passport or a driver’s license.
If you really want to know how you’re getting paid at the end of camp just email/phone your camp agency to see if they know, and if not, just drop your camp a quick email. They know that you need the money and won’t mind one bit.
